Point Setting on Your Cushman Truckster

If your Cushman Truckster engine is not running right or misfires you might need to check your points, condenser, or timing.

To check the points remove the timer cover, and turn the engine until the points are completely open. Using a feeler gauge, measure the breaker point gap making sure it is set at .020. If you need to adjust the points, loosen the breaker plate screw and move the adjusting screw until the proper adjustment is reached. Then tighten the breaker plate screw and recheck the point gap. Replace timer cover when you have reached the correct setting.

This is the only way you should adjust the breaker point. You should never loosen the fixed contact or bend the breaker arm to adjust the points.

The moving contact is an integral part of the breaker group and cannot be replaced separately. If you need to replace either the fixed or the movable points you should replace both at the same time.

By maintaining the correct point setting it should help in keeping your Cushman Truckster running smoothly.
